Optometric Technician

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, learning new medical skills, and being part of a collaborative healthcare environment.
Our clinic provides a high level of medical eye care and advanced diagnostic testing. As a technician, you will work closely with our doctors to collect clinical data, assist with patient care, and help ensure each patient has an excellent experience.
No previous optometry experience is required — we are happy to train the right candidate who is curious, dependable, and eager to learn.
What You'll Do:
Clinical Testing & Patient Preparation:
- Perform pretesting and diagnostic imaging such as visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure measurement, fundus photography, visual fields, tomography, and corneal topography.
- Prepare patients for their exam and gather important medical information.
Doctor Support:
- Enter patient information into the electronic health record.
- Work alongside the optometrist as a scribe, documenting exam findings and treatment plans.
Patient Care & Education:
- Guide patients through testing procedures.
- Teach patients how to insert, remove, and care for contact lenses.
- Help patients understand their treatment plans and follow-up care.
Continuing Education & Career Development:
We believe optometric technicians should be able to build a long-term career in eye care. Our clinic supports professional growth by providing:
- Study materials for Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) certification, expected to earn CPO certification within one year of hire.
- Support for CPOA and ABO certifications.
- Opportunity to enroll in the Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT) program, a two-year online degree.
- 80% tuition reimbursement for employees pursuing the CPOT degree.

What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn medical procedures and operate specialized equipment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Interest in healthcare and helping patients.
- Previous clinical experience is helpful but not required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
